　　大仲马Alexandre Dumas pere（1802-1870）法国19世纪最多产、最受民众喜爱的作家之一，享有“通俗小说之王”的称号。他以戏剧创作开始文学生涯，后又撰写历史小说，获得盛誉。最著名的作品有《三个火枪手》（The ThreeMusketeers）、《基督山伯爵》（The Count of Montecrtsto）和《黑色郁金香》（The Black Tulip）等。他的小说已被译成包括中文在内的多种文字出版，有的还被改编成剧本、拍摄成电影。他的作品在法国和世界文学史上占有重要的地位。

　　小说以法国国王路易十三和手握重兵、权倾朝野的首相黎塞留红衣主教的矛盾为背景，穿插群臣派系的明争暗斗和宫廷里的秘史轶闻，情节生动曲折。主人公少年勇士达达尼昂骑一匹长毛瘦马，告别亲人，远赴巴黎，希望在国王的火枪队里当一名火枪手。在队长府上，他遇到了阿托斯、波托斯和阿拉米斯三个火枪手，通过欧洲骑士风行的决斗，四人结成生死与共的知己。
