　　    It is a great pleasure to welcome all participants of the Second International Conferenceon Computational Methods for Thermal Problems （THERMACOMP2011） to Dalian.Computational and mathematical methods have had a profound impact on theunderstanding and advancement of engineering science and technology over the last fewdecades. The conference aims to convene a diverse scientific audience ofmathematicians, physicists, engineers and computational scientists that have acommunal interest in modelling thermal problems. It is encouraging to learn that thisconference represents an interdisciplinary forum of scientists with expertise rangingfrom heat conduction, convection and radiation to CFD and thermo-mechanicalcoupling. We hope that the interaction between scientists during the conference leads tonew topics of research and new collaborations.
