　　本文分为两部分，第一部分是课文，内容包括生物化学、分子生物学、细胞生物学、微生物学、免疫学、生物学和生态学等，力求扩大专业覆盖面，扩大单词量。为了便于学习，课文后有单词表（并注明音标）和难句分析。在素材的选择方面既注意内容的广泛性又注意新颖性，特别是选择那些代表目前生物学新发展的材料，使学生既学习了语言又能等到专业知识的前沿内容，例如基因组学、蛋白质组学、基因治疗等。第二部分是科技英语写作，全面介绍英文科技文章的写作知识。这部分也是本书的一个特点。
