　　    In the past 20 years， the attention given to hydropower and rural electrification by the world community has also been increasing. A number of international conferenees， including the World Summit on Sustainable Developmentheld in Johannesburg， South Africa in 2002 and the Third World Water Forumheld in Kyoto， Japan in March 2003， have appealed for more utilization of allrenewable energy sources， including hydropower. A new era of greater development for this thriving green energy has come.
