　　    本书是上海市高等学校教育高地建设项目，是为普通高校英语专业本科生编写的美国文学教材。本书根据美国文学史各阶段的划分一殖民地时期与早期美国文学、浪漫主义、现实主义、现代主义和后现代主义，分为五章，精选了34位名家及其代表作品或作品节选，每篇选文均配有1～2篇名家评论，为学生鉴赏解读提供借鉴与指导。作品选文后还为学生进一步思考研读设计了思考题，并提供了相关参考书目。
