　　Huang Guowen， Professor ofEnglish and Linguistics at Sun Yat-sen University. He received his PhDdegrees from the University ofEdinburgh and the University ofWales， Cardiff. He publishesextensively both in China and abroad.His research interests includesystemic functional linguistics，discourse analysis， applied linguisticsand translation studies.
　　Mohsen Ghadessy， Professor ofEnglish， has been teaching Englishlanguage and linguistics in a numberof countries including Iran， UK，Singapore， Brunei， and the PeoplesRepublic of China. He received hisPhD degree in 1972 from theUniversity of Texas at Austin inApplied Linguistics. Dr. Ghadessyhas published extensively and editeda number of books on topics relatedto Systemic Functional Grammar.His current research interests areSFG and parallel texts in translationstudies.
　　Zhang Meifang，  Professor ofEnglish at Sun Yat-sen University，Guangzhou， and currently VisitingProfessor of the University of Macau.She received her PhD degree inTranslation Studies from Hong KongBaptist University in 1999. Shepublished extensively in both Englishstudies and translation studies. Herresearch interests are: translationstudies， discourse analysis， andintercultural studies.

　　介绍了学术论文的语言特点和语篇结构。它不同于以往大多数同类著作的是，《英语学术论文写作》阐明了这样一个观点：学术语篇语域是由一组宏观结构要素（macro-elements of structure）构成的，而每一种宏观成分又是由一组微观要素（micro-elements）组成的。《英语学术论文写作》通过援引新近在国内外学术刊物上发表的论文作为实例，讨论并解释了不同宏观和微观要素的基本理论基础、功能和相关的语言特征。
