　　China has a long history of painting. If we ignore the early rock paintings, grottoes and the painted decorations on early pottery and lacquer-ware and look only at the paintings on paper or various types of silk, then the history of Chinese painting can be traced back over two thousand years to two advanced silk paintings discovered in a ChuKingdom tomb in Changsha. Over these two millennia, classical Chinese painting developed along a clear trajectory marked by its differences from painting in the West and other parts of the world. This trajectory encompasses a rich accumulation of traditions and a remarkable diversity.
