　　    袁杰英，1955年起先后就读于中央美术学院和中央工艺美术学院，1960年毕业后留校任教，并继续从师沈从文先生、雷圭元教授研修中国服装史和民间服饰，现为教授、研究生指导教师，是我国高校服装专业创建人之一，享受国家特殊贡献津贴待遇。曾为中央工艺美术学院服装设计系主任、中国服装设计师协会副主席。现为中国服装设计师协会理事、专家委员会委员、北京服装纺织行业协会专业顾问、《装饰》杂志顾问等职。曾被授予学术成就奖和荣誉奖章。著有《中国传统服饰》（《中国》系列丛书之一，中文版、英文版、法文版、香港中文繁体字版，外文出版社出版）；《中国旗袍》（中英文版，纺织出版社出版）；《中国历代服饰史》（高等教育出版社出版）；《服装模特表演艺术》（轻工业出版社出版）；《20世纪中国服装设计师足迹》（辽宁出版社出版）等。
